JAH CURE x PEOPLE'S CHOICE
On Thursday, January 20, 2011 The Jamaica Star's People Choice announced the winner for the Best Singer of the year, Jah Cure, and the Best Song of the Year by Jah Cure featuring Physillia titled "Unconditional Love".
Ive always been a fan of reggae and a good friend and whom I call a brother has brought great light to me about this artist. Big shout out to Romanz "Rasta Shotta" of BLP!
I am a big fan of Jah Cure and he's definitely one of my top fav reggae artists along with legendary's like Dennis Brown and Garnett Silk and my favorite female singer, Tanya Stephens. I grew up on it since I can remember. My father has always played it and exposed me to it. I surprisingly can understand some of the language in the songs from time to time just from years of listening. The greatest of all time, Bob Marley grew up with us when we lived in Italy and I'm glad to be able to share this info along to my readers because this music really is life mood music to me. Read more here about the other winners of the Jamaica Star's People's Choice.
So below is like the best song ever (aside from my favorite song by Gyptian "Beautiful Lady")...

Vulnerability: The Truth
When you hear the word "Vulnerable" you automatically think negatively. You related it to someone being "taken advantage of" or easy to "get over on". Even the dictionary saids,
1. capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt, as by a weapon: a vulnerable part of the body.
2. open to moral attack, criticism, temptation, etc.
I believe that definition but with vulnerability comes lessons we dont learn until after the event has taken place. Right? Here's what i thought out:
Vulnerability is….
Freedom
Love
Truth
Strength
Openness
Release
“The Powerful Unknown”
Self
Awareness
Vulnerability is not….
Fear
Naivete
Negative/Bad
Weakness
Threatening
Powerlessness
Truth: All human emotions/vibrations are based on either love or fear. Nothing else. No "grey areas". One or the other.
Truth: Love and fear can’t exist in the same space. You can fear to love, therefor unable to love or accept love given or you can be VULNERABLE to love and be open to receive and love it back.
Poor vulnerability: always getting a bad rep. It’s looked at as a weakness when it is quite the contrary. I think we’ve wrongfully associated vulnerability with fear when it’s actually one of the purest forms of love. The negative connotation associated with vulnerability is purely fear-based. Fear, essentially, is a four-letter word we’ve assigned to the negative feeling/vibration (False Evidence Appearing Real, or so, somewhere I read this).
WALL SHATTERING
We’re TAUGHT to put up walls. (What baby YOU know has animosity or a grudge or a chip on his/her shoulder? Lol). Walls are born from personal experiences, hearsay, eye-witness accounts, expectations, age, media, “the norm,” rumors, stereotypes, generational/familial influences... etc etc. It is our RESPONSIBILITY as mature, self-aware adults to teach ourselves to take them down. These walls (self-protection methods) cause more pain and suffering than their absence. Walls are debilitating, if you think about it. Don’t mistake them for strength. We put up walls to feel "less VULNERABLE" when in fact we're only making the fear noticeable!!
..::THINK ABOUT AN ACTUAL WALL::..
It’s strong, sturdy, provides protection, creates barriers, it keeps things inside (preserve) meanwhile stopping (deflect) others from entering.... Get my drift?
Think of YOUR “wall” as an emotional dam. You are single-handedly stopping the flow. The flow of: possibilities, experiences, love, freedom, strength, truth, self and many other aspects of your well-being. Negative energy is released when walls/guards are let down. It opens up the space for a free flow of pure, boundless, filter-free love aka positivity.
The importance of awareness in the equation.
You need be aware of yourself, your thoughts and your emotions. In most cases, you naturally/instinctively are vulnerable then you ALLOW fear to interject, THEN the “protection” arises. Walls are build. Relationships slowly and unconsciously become relation-shits. #kanyeshrug
The importance of resilience in the equation.
Shit happens! We have to be able to repair self in order to move on. AGAIN, a little (or a lot of) introspection never hurt anybody. Be truthful with yourself. Take accountability for your faults. Learn from them and move on to the next lesson. That's the beauty of being VULNERABLE!
Break your dam. You only get 1 life, and you're told to live each as if it we're your last so allow yourself to BE. Be vulnerable. Be free. Letting go is essential to your happiness, peace of mind, and overall well-being. It can be uncomfortable. In my mind, it’s supposed to be. Nothing worth having comes easily. Vulnerability comes natural to us, we just have to make the CHOICE to embrace it.
Homework: I’d like for you to be aware of your emotions and thoughts as they arise. Notice when fear is present. Notice your “auto-self-protection” mode that you habitually enter. Intervene. Choose vulnerability. Choose openness. Choose freedom.

Cris Jons x Guest Poet
No Title.
(Loved this poem! No better person could've wrote this, than an intelligent, strong black man. I *salute* you Cris.)
the feelings of a century tied into one
generation repressed dreams and
discrimination followed by hopes and
determination hoping only to avoid
extermination we are the examples, and
everyday our children look up to us and our
and our foul natures, as i open up
my eyes and look at our foul nation
i say," rise up people"! this is no
longer a time of waiting. and i pray
to god, cause behind our back is
a waiting satan.many times i've
thought to myself,"what is it all for?"
and i heard heaven reply'" cause i
have more in store, for you; for us all
all you have to do is want it,
and only then will you see
that all things in this world
are possible through me".....

WE WEAR THE MASK x Paul Laurence Dunbar (comedy)
We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,--
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.
Why should the world be overwise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.
We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!
Paul Laurence Dunbar

Still I Rise x Maya Angelou
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Dear Black Man,,, A letter
Dear Black Man,
Million man marches, car clubs, and bars, we see you trying and we see your pain. Its not all your fault, its not just your pain. You know the difference between right and wrong, but why always do right when you feel everything always goes wrong? Why work double shifts just to hear your boss still bitch? Excuse my french, but I know the stress you carry. I see the pain in your eyes. I feel the tensity of your strong black hands when you make a fist. Its not just for hitting, no need to punch walls. That fist represents power. That fist represents your culture.
You're not just told to "be there" for your children, you're to be a role model. That's the true definition of a father. You're not just told to "be here", you're to be supportive. That's the true definition for loving a woman.
Hey you, black man. Yea, you're fine, you're sexy, can I have you next to me? Can i get a few minutes to appreciate your past? No, not just yours. Your fathers' past. His fathers' past and his fathers' past. Decade after decade it was you Black Man that stood tall, spoke out and sacrificed. That strong heart inside your chest- that's sexy. That's what makes you who you are. Those wrong choices can be right and you don't always have to feel like life's a fight. You wanna know what carried the extra stress and the extra weight and who helped you Black Man stay strong? Decade after decade it was a strong black woman. Dr. King went through hell and back and never gave up. Sounds familiar, because I see you doing the same. His backbone was Coretta Scott King. Decade after decade the black woman has inherited this same natural support system. Wanna be a better stronger black man, make sure you support your strong black woman.
Keep the dream alive and be true to yourself. If you want our support, we expect the same. There is no dream to achieve if their is no team.
With love,
Black Woman

RELEASE OFF 1ST QTR MIXTAPE: "DONT LIKE ME" x PETEY PABLO
If you think you've heard enough and you figure you're hype enough for the 1st Qtr Mixtape, well here's something else I figured Id take advantage of to mention. One of the tracks submitted and accepted to the project was a new single from NC own's Petey Pablo. I know, i know... I have some "THAT'S WHATS UP" comments and some "Ah HELL NO!" comments. The fact is, whether you like it or not, he's apart of Carolina Hip Hop history and he was a platinum artist at one time. I know I was shakin' to "How ya like it daddy..." in the club e'ry weekend!
So here's his premiere video, which debuted around this past Saturday (January 8) and will soon be first distributed within the Carolina's on this mixtape.

PUNISHED FOR FB NETWORKING
You could get the message below if you go around networking. I sometimes randomly add DJs and Artists that I see over in the "Friend Suggestion" section. OBVIOUSLY they were suggested to me because we have a lot of friends in common. So I add them. Sometimes I'll get a message that will say "You don't know this person"... request cant be sent" or some shit like that and I ask myself "then why are you suggesting them to me????"
So today I was hit with a "roadblock" and have to "sign" and "agreement" that I cannot add people i do not know. Ive had a previous problem with Facebook back in October when, in my opinion, I had some haters repeatedly reporting my page because I was hit with an email that my page was deactivated because on several occasions my page was reported that I was "impersonating" someone. I guess this is what I ALSO get for doing something better than the next. I gotta love my hater. I was told I needed to send an email of a scanned or pic msg picture of my State ID card or another photo ID that proved my named and picture. At that time I had planned to never go back to FB but I still did. Now I get hit with this bullshit.
So friends, if my page disappears, its FB fault and Ill be gettin my fling on with Twitter. Oh Ill still be arnd but I will refuse to build another page. I went from almost 4000 to 0 overnight and since Oct, im only at about 2000. The rules and guidelines for Facebook are gettin ridiculous. Dont suggest me friends if ima just get put on blocked. This is my job. To network.
" Friend Requests and Messages Blocked for 2 Days
To prevent you from contacting people against their wishes, your friend requests and your ability to send messages to strangers have been blocked temporarily.
If more of your friend requests are later marked as spam or reported for being sent to strangers, this block could be extended. To prevent this, you may wish to cancel your pending friend requests. "

KANYE/JAYZ ALBUM UPDATE
Yall know I admire Kanye for more than the love of his music. He reminds me of teh male version of myself. I swear, ask Mommie Connect. Especially for the "outspoken" characteristics. No matter where or why, ill say what I wanna reagardless of the consequences. Kanye is also known for his mouth-- sometimes more than his music and i can respect that. Yall should too.
Now, not too long ago 'Ye got us all excited, proclaiming that he and Jay-Z's joint album, Watch the Throne, will be released "next week". THAT unfortunately appears to be an empty promise.
It was announced yesterday (January 5) that the album won't drop until March. Im actually happy and mad about that. Im happy because 'Ye and Jay do NOT need to drop any rushed materials and they need all the time they deserve. Im mad because i was ready like hell to hear that shit! My 2 favorite artist dropping a whole album!! I think its only going be a 10 song album. Maybe they wont be stingy with the music and give us 15! lol
According to some sources close to Kanye and Def Jam, they revealed that the album has an official release date of March 1st. The album's first single is going to supposedly drop on January 11th.
