BUJU BANTON FOUND GUILTY. DAMN.
In 2009, Buju Banton was convicted of conspiring to to set up a cocaine deal. Accordiung to BBC,
"Prosecutors said the singer, whose real name is Mark Myrie, told an undercover police informant he could broker the drug."
Banton testified in court that he was "boasting", and prosecutors conceded he had never put money into a deal, nor made any.
JUST last week his "Before the Dawn" album won Best Reggae Album at the Grammy Awards. I grew up on Buju Banton and I looove him. As devestating as it is for me to hear this, its even more devastating to the Reggae Industry. Buju was and still is a strong voice and figure in the genre.
In my opinion, the evidence they have is ridiculous and if he wasn't a "rasta reggae artist", he'd get probation, he'd get his bail and it wouldn't be like this. But, that's just my opinion.
For more on this case, check out THIS ARTICLE on HipHopWired
Here's my fav Buju Banton songs below. ENJOY! (FREE BUJU!)
This is my all time favorite!
This one always gives me chills!

LIL KIM "BLACK FRIDAY" COVER THOUGHTS
Umm... what can i say positive... She sold alot in the first day, im glad she's back on teh scene, Lil Kim is a beast on the mic and Im glad she came back to rappin.
Sarcastic Renegade says: Lil Kim should be ashamed of herself for this stupid ass cover. You're the long lost Street Fighter who sliced Nikki head off. That's the concept you wanted for the title "Black Friday"? Really? SMH.
What do you think?

MEETTHENETWORK: ZG BEATS
I ran across this affiliate when his profile picture captured my attention. Of course, first glance you see shot glasses and as many know, I love to drink, but it wasn't just the shot glasses, it was the quote on the pic.
"Don't chase anything but drinks and dreams"
That's a great ass quote, in my opinion. Everything isn't meant to be caught. Some things and even some people aren't meant to be "captured". Drinks should be chased with Coke or Grapefruit and dreams should be chased until the wheels fall off. Everything else will happen if its meant to happen.
Back to the picture... also on the picture was "ZG Beats". I love my artists, I love and appreciate my DJs and I more so love, appreciate and adore the producers and beatmakers. The beat makes the song majority of the time. Artist will often hear me tell them to get on some original beats. Nothing is more exciting that hearing a talented artist with great delivery on top of a great beat.
MEET ZG BEATS outta Decatur, Illinois. Now, you may be like "Decatur Illinois??? Never heard of that!!" Shame on you! Decatur is most known for it once being the residency for Abraham Lincoln! DUH! It's about 3 hours from Chicago and is a college town that holds a young guy who make these great beats, great graphics and caught my attention with his personality and talent. ZG is 20 going on 21 and has been doing this for like 7 years. He started makin beats around the age of 12-13.
"I've tried to stop makin music and change career paths like 3 times but something always made a way for me with music. It's like I was meant to do it..."
I definitely support ZG Beats, not just for the originality and quality but for his networking skills. You need beats, you get at him! Expand your variety artists! Visit http://reverbnation.com/zgbeats

ANAYA DAFFE' x TRUE #BADBITCHABILITY
Every Monday, your attention is caught by the signature pink and black, tantalizingly teasing photos and phrase "BadBitchability". What we know is her voice is incredible, her single "Pay No Mind" definitely has #RewindValue and the attitude we love, she was mentioned as "next to follow suit" in an article featured on Hip Hop Weekly, next to my favs, Derty Den and Shelly B, my Blog Affiliate, B-Dot of Notoriety being a NOBODY, got her 1st interview, and GotHaze.com, whom I work for, got to premiere her single. What we don't know is that having BadBitchability is not just having style, attitude and a good head on your shoulders. Its knowing when to get in BadBitchabilty Mode and when to use Badbitchabilty. I mos def think Anaya knows all this and more and #iSUPPORT Anaya Daffe. Having BadBitchability is knowing the difference and not being afraid to showcase that knowledge. Today I was introduced to an event she is performing for that I thought HAD to have a feature on this site. She's more than a sexy voice, she's a supporter for good causes. THAT'S BadBitchability.
#BADBITCHABILITY MODE
Aside from the sarcasm and crude humor, I am a advocate for women. #DUH Wet Set supports females in the Industry and abroad so it was only right I feature this event. We have ladies on the team that sing, model, go to school for cosmetology, and we even have a Cancer survivor that goes hard for the team (Love you Temika!), we don't discriminate on looks when adding females on the team and I personally know how hard it is as a female in the Industry. One of the most important things that go on in a female's personal life is abuse. Physical, mental and verbal abuse. To this day I rock a purple wrist band for Women's Abuse with the phrase, "No excuse! Stop the abuse!".
On February 20, Anaya will be performing LIVE at "The Flame" In New Bern, NC for "SISTERS UNITED" from 5pm to 9pm. This event is Presented by Touch 92.3 and Next Media to discuss topics of Domestic Violence, Job Attire, Refuge, Teen Bullying, and even Self Esteem and Communication within our youth. This is mos def an event I hope many will attend. Adult Admission is just $5 and its free for the youth! FOr more information visit www.carolinatouch.com.
The Rock Returns. Yes. #GeekMode
You know, there's nothing better than good news. Right? Yea, fuck that saying :theirs no better news than no news at all", that's dumb. If there was no news at all, then nothing is happening... sounds boring to me! The newest news that had me doing the running man is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's return to WWE.
I didn't get to catch the show but I got the updated from a FB friend and business affiliate, a blogger affiliate and singer/songwriter, So Free, about his premiere as host on Valentine night. Unfortunately, I was occupied and I'm pretty sure its a good thing I didn't know or I would've been the asshole of the night. *wink* I put a peek at this lovely man and his entrance on Monday Night Feb 14, 2011 at the end.
You the best part of all of this? Its not just because I'm a fan, or because he's the best of the best, or because he;s the most electrifying man of like all time-- its because he came back on Valentines Day and ALSO his next hosting appearance will be on MY BIRTHDAY (April 3) for Wrestlemania XXVII. POW!
Part 2 showcases that cocky Rock (no pun intended lmao) we all missed the past 7 years...

LOL: TMZ x J COLE
Not only is it funny that TMZ didn't recognize J. Cole but... he laughed it off. Umm... I would've been kinda pissed that as the 1st artist of the Roc Nation under Jay Z, the most popular Gossip Entertainment Company couldn't recognize me out of ONLY 3 guys. I mean, shit, fuck u if im think im wrong for posting this lol but its hilarious to me!!

iSUPPORT Lupe Fiasco
The first time I saw this cover it sent chills down my spine. The 2nd time, made me want to officially assign my blog to the promotion and countdown to his album release. Why? Because I can. lol Because its my blogsite. Most importantly, because if you ask me whats the hottest newest mainstream song out or artist out and I wouldn't specifically know because I surround myself with Indie artists. My answer would probably not be a mainstream artist.
Today a producer and songwriter and fellow Aries affiliate out of Charlotte, NC helped inspire the support for this article and many more to come. Byron Crite ( FOLLOW HIM @songdesigner ), is CEO/President and Founder of Miscellaneous Productions Inc. He had posted the album cover and it caught my eye soon as it hit my News Feed on Facebook.
You know, I got so caught up in promoting artist music, making sure I give everybody some shine and a little free press that I forgot the purpose for this website: To express my opinions as a young, single black female in the Underground Music Industry while supporting the artists that support me and slapping "Wet Set!" on everything. lol
This website promotes and supports many indie artists and Underground DJs and Producers. If I am to promote or support ANY mainstream music/artist, it would be Kanye West. Today i'm adding Lupe Fiasco onto that short roster. He's always been a favorite but this album cover below, visually kills me softly with its artwork.

DJ BSKI DONATES TO DJ KOOL HERC RECOVERY FUND
Earlier this month I posted an article showcasing DJ Kool Herc as my Black History Month feature for February and shared my insight & opinion on his history and his current health crisis.
In case you didn't catch that article, (read more HERE) what's basically going on is one of Hip Hop's founding fathers life is in threatening conditions due to a bad case of kidney stones. He recently had some work done that is actually causing more harm than good. His hospital tab is already in a $10,000 debt and the surgery he needs is backed by any health insurance. Thats right. The legendary DJ doesn't have Health Insurance.
Goes to show you how common our America's Health Insurance crisis is.
According to DJ Premier earlier this week, Herc is "very sick and is in need of surgery, the exact nature of the Hip-Hop founder’s illness has yet to be revealed."
One of North Carolina's popular underground Mixtape DJ's recently donated to the Kool Herc Foundation which was first highly announced and promoted by DJ Premier.
"When it comes to the Hip Hop community, Premier be on it." -DJ Bski
DJ Bski has not only showcased his DJ skills and Mixtape hosting abilities for hundreds of artists across this state but has done what many DJs and Hip Hop lovers across the country are doing. Forgiving Kool Herc's past and only focusing on the positive and showing support. He founded the DJ techniques. I salute DJ Bski.
Be sure to follow him on Twitter @DjBski and join him and his coalition at the Build Ya Brand DJs website and get network with some of the NC Music Industry's most respected and supportive DJs.
In the meantime, donations to Kool Herc can be sent to: Kool Herc Productions PO Box 20472 Huntington Station, NY 11746
or PAYPAL cindycampbell1(at)aol(dot)com.

DAY 1 B.H.M x KOOL HERC
BLACK HISTORY IS ALL YEAR. NOT JUST JANUARY AND FEBRUARY. That's my beginning view of Black History. Im not gonna introduce you somebody you already know like Rosa Parks or Malcolm X. These are great pioneers and legends of our Black History culture but there is more to our history than what the school systems taught us.
I'm not gonna drop a name every day of this month, shit, you should already know our history. Half of you reading probably didn't even vote- I'm not talking bout JUST in November 2008 either. I'm not here to tel you why I know more than you or broadcast that I'm smart and know my history because I'm good. Don't mean to sound cocky but I had one of them mothers who made me right book reports on anything and everything. I just wanna talk shit and have an excuse for it to be honest. #GETFAMILAR
1967 in the South Bronx came Clive Campbell from Jamaican, aka Kool Herc. He is considered to be one of the founders of hip-hop. Kool Herc became that, what later became known as "DJ". In Jamaica, the DJ was a "master" of the music system, which evolved around the lives of youth. He arranged parties, made an interesting speech-feast into the microphone. Soon he became known as MC ( "master of ceremony") - he gathered music, played and announced them. Eventually when a DJ, aside from making music, announced some "rhythmic text" it became known as the word "rap".
Soon Kool Herc, began "repeating of the instrumental breaks", which were there hooks, ima guess. Dancers came out to the dance-floor and showed their "skills". Reminds me of that great movie called "Breakin". Anyways, Kool Herc marked these breaks and named the participants "B-Boys" aka "Break boys" and the dance was called break-dancing (breaking).
Now, i think i broke that shit down pretty well. Currently, this Hip hop pioneer has kidney stones and is very sick in the hospital but doesn't have any health insurance and can't afford surgery. Now, after all I broke down about how much he influenced Hip Hop, you would think one of these Hip Hop artists that are so quick to drop a song about how much cash they blowing would help him out ESPECIALLY since its Black History Month. #IMJUSSAYIN
Only time will tell, my prayers go out to him in the hopes he gets better or the hopes someone will pay for his surgery. Health Insurance is a big issue not only with Herc but in the black community. I, for one, don't have health insurance and this county I reside in gives me a run around every time I try for Medicaid to the point where I just think they don't want to give it to me because of my parents Military status. To this day, i still have a $23,000 tab on my record for a hospital bill. Prob wont be buying a home anytime soon! LMAO
According to NY Daily News,
"the 55-year-old DJ has piled up more than $10,000 in hospital bills and the much-needed surgery will only add to that" claims his sister.
Im guessing if I get badly ill ima just die then being that this is North Carolina! Damn shame. Lol. He's a Hip Hop Legend and no one has jumped the gun to help him with his kidney stones. Where's Rick Ross? He blows money fast. I know Herc gotta be quoting "Can I Live?"
