Mastermind x @RickyRozay features production credits from Carolina's @JManifestNC & @LegionOfMuzik

In the midst of the Rick Ross Mastermind Album release there is a loud chant of support for a producer who, until now, wasn't getting credit for his production. If you purchased Mastermind today, look at the credits for track 3 and you will see that the production was done by J. Manifest (@JManifest) and Legion of Muzik (@LegionofMuzik). However, you cant believe everything you see on the internet...

For over a month, graphics headlined popular Hip Hop websites showcasing the Mastermind tracklist and track 3, "Drug Dealers Dream", didn't say "J. Manifest". Instead, Seattle's native "Jake One" was beside it. As this graphic traveled from website to website and from blog to blog, J. Manifest lost his publicity for this accomplishment. For over a month he sat back and on the night of March 2, one of the biggest conversation pieces about CIAA weekend in Charlotte, NC was Rick Ross calling J. Manifest on stage at the party he was attending to introduce the track to the crowd.

"It was a great feeling when good bro Ricky Rozay requested that I introduce the record. It showed me that I did business with some real people. Not often do you meet those kinda people. It also was a good look because I was in my backyard- North Carolina. From that moment I knew it was real and I had accomplished something ginormous." - J. Manifest

It was later cleared up on Twitter by Carolina artist and friend of Manifest, Jozeemo (@Jozeemo) with the simple tweet "So who produced #DrugDealersDream @JakeUno or @JManifest ?" in which Jake One rapidly responds giving credit to Manifest. Jozeemo is known from his work with Little Brother on "That Ain't Love" and the "Welcome to Durham" documentary.

Manifest states in his social media profiles, "March 4, 2014 is a milestone in my life and for the state of North Carolina." In regards as to how he got the project, "About 2 1/2 to 3 yrs ago, I met Rick Ross' manager Gucci Pucci and we built a business friendship. Ross had recorded on several of my records, but none made the album, which at that time was "God Forgives, I Don't". We stayed in touch and I continued to submit records, until he finally got one I called "Theory" which became "Drug Dealers Dream".

Manifest's work history includes music placement/credits under his belt with projects from Poe Boy Music Group, Project Pat, Max B, Beanie Sigel, Young Buck, and even Smack DVD/URL battles, but none with the weight of this highly anticipated album from Rick Ross. Currently he is still running The COSIGN tour which is a series of venue stops promoting his project "The Cosign Mixtape". Follow him on Twitter, Instagram @JManifest

EAST CACK MUSIC: @BOONCOON - "STAY SCHEMIN" FREESTYLE! KILLIN THE BEAT.. AS USUAL

FOLLOW @BOONCOON

Boon is one of the first artists I worked with. He always surprises me with the moves he makes and the grind is unstoppable. In less than a year he grabbed the attention of the Carolina Market and gained a Best New Artist nominee without a campaign! That's how big his fan base is and I promise you, he is a problem! You got to check out this freestyle. This guy has so much versatility, emotion, aggression, and can mix lyrics together better than Emeril in the kitchen! lol #ENJOY

[NEWS]: @DJCHUCKT LAUNCHES @THEAUTHORITYDJS OF NC/SC! WE GOT THE ROSTER!

DJ Chuck T is proud to announce the formation of a DJ organization that promises to make a bigger impact on Hip-Hop than any such organization has done in years. The Authority DJ Coalition, created during the fall of 2012, continues Chuck T’s career-long mission to champion The Carolinas, and operates with the sole goal of turning North and South Carolina into a self-sustaining market for music and entertainment.

At start-up, The Authority DJ Coalition consists of 30 DJs, based in both North and South Carolina, who share a common dedication to promoting their region and a documented history of supporting local, signed and unsigned talent. They are also a group of DJs who have each developed a far reaching global network that proves that it is entirely possible for The Carolinas to “get on the map” because the world is ready to hear what they have to say. Of course, that’s not news to DJ Chuck T. “Every time I go out of town or talk to someone in the entertainment business,” he says, “whether it’s an artist, record executive, or promoter, they always ask what’s going on in The Carolinas, who they should throw their support behind, and how they can promote their brands here. So, obviously, there’s a huge gap when it comes to knowledge about The Carolinas from the outside coming in, but definitely not because of a lack in interest.” His theory is that the “Carolina Movement” just needed the right group of individuals to lead the charge. “We have a lot of talent here,” he adds, “a lot of talented artists, producers, musicians, DJs and the list goes on and on. We need a coalition to showcase what we have to the outside world. Not just that, but The Carolinas are so big and diverse that we need to let people who are here know what’s going on too.” The Authority DJ Coalition will not just focus solely on promoting Carolina artists, Djs, and music industry professionals to the rest of the nation but also creating effective and affordable marketing strategies and campaigns for artists from other areas to brand themselves and gain exposure in the Carolinas as well. “We don’t want to be small minded and not network with artists and music industry professionals from other areas, no man is an island,” states DJ Chuck T, “our goal is to not only help our artists get national exposure but help artists, both signed and unsigned, from other areas gain exposure here too.”

The Authority DJ Coalition also hopes to tackle the catch-22 that has mired relationships between Carolina DJs and artists for years. Right now, DJs feel like whenever a local artist finds him/herself in a position from which a Carolina DJ could benefit (i.e., a record deal or touring opportunity), they run to larger-named DJs in outside markets. The artists on the other hand feel like the DJs would rather invest the energy into breaking a brand new artist from New York or Atlanta in their local markets than to support the artists whose careers they’ve been able to see develop locally over years. The Authority aims to change that relationship by putting the DJs at the forefront of the “Carolina Movement” and tasking them with the responsibility of shining a national spotlight on their local artists. It will also be these DJs’ duty to create a legacy of support for Carolina artists by mentoring up-and-coming DJs in the region.

As it is now, membership into the coalition will continue to be available by invitation only; with potential members identified by the impact they have within their local market and their ability to grow The Authority DJ Coalition’s vision. And while Chuck T’s goal is to extend the organization’s roster to the DC-Maryland-Virginia area, he has no intention on growing his team beyond that. “I feel like none of the other DJ coalitions are focusing on the talented DJs here in the Mid-Atlantic states, who are just as skilled, talented and definitely connected as their counterparts in larger cities,” he explains. “So my goal is to empower DJs like myself in a way that no other national group has ever done.”
