[MUSIC INDUSTFRY 101]: GET A COLLEGE DEGREE THAT EMPLOYERS FIND "SEXY"

#1 Degree - Business Administration

There's nothing sexier than someone who knows how to take charge. And if you want to learn how to be the take-charge type, you may want to consider earning a bachelor's in business administration.
Why? Because with a business administration degree, you'll develop your leadership skills, says the College Board, an educational organization that administers aptitude tests like the SAT.
What's more, "This program prepares students to plan, organize, direct, and control an organization's activities," adds the College Board.

What's the attraction? It could have something to do with the marketability of a business degree, says Amanda Andrews, a certified professional resume writer at Great Resumes Fast, a resume writing service. "Marketable skills gained through coursework often include entrepreneurial leadership, workflow prioritization, consensus building, efficiency improvements, business development, and process reengineering," says Andrews.
Andrews also says that the broad-based approach of a business administration degree could potentially entice a wide variety of recruiters.

#2 Degree - Communications

Want to appear calm, cool, and collected while communicating your goals and strengths in the future? Getting your bachelor's degree in communications could help you learn how to do exactly that, whether you're networking, drafting a cover letter, or actually sitting down for a job interview.
And how will you learn to do this? According to the College Board, "You'll study the complex ways in which we communicate with each other, through the media and face-to-face, with words and without, at work and at play."


What's the attraction? "Communications majors offer a key skill attractive to hiring managers from a broad range of industries - the often overlooked art of persuasion via written, oral, and visual communication," Andrews says.
In fact, the ability to effectively communicate with persons inside and outside an organization is the single most important skill that employers want from new college graduates, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) 2012 Job Outlook Spring Update. This survey was taken in the spring of 2012 and polled companies for their hiring intentions through the end of the year.

#3 Degree - Accounting

Wondering how to get employers to notice you? Then you'll want to keep in mind that employers find some skills and degrees more attractive than others, and accounting is one of the degrees at the top of the hot list.
In fact, of the employers who responded to the NACE survey, 53 percent plan on hiring college grads in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in accounting.


What's the attraction? Workers with this number-crunching degree could help fill the growing need for accountants due to recent corporate scandals, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
"Stricter laws and regulations, particularly in the financial sector, will likely increase the demand for accounting services as organizations seek to comply with new standards," the Department of Labor says.
And as an accounting grad, you should be prepared to meet these demands. Because "In addition to attending lectures, you may also conduct research, analyze real cases, and visit the computer lab to act out simulations," notes the College Board.

#4 Degree - Information Technology

It's hard to define sexy. Basically, you know when you see "it."
Along those lines, a bachelor's degree in information technology (IT) certainly has the "it" factor to attract employers.
Why? Because by deep-diving into this subject, you could learn about the newest computer technology and how it's used to make our lives easier and more efficient. What's more, "IT majors focus on how information and computing systems support business, research, and communications needs," says the College Board.


What's the attraction? Technical expertise is what this particular degree delivers, and it's also what today's IT employers want, according to Laura Maurer, IT resume writer for Great Resumes Fast.
Maurer recommends that IT graduates list any and all technical skills that they possess on their resume under category headings such as database tools, development tools, and operating systems.

#5 Degree - Criminal Justice

We've all heard the saying that there's something irresistibly sexy about a man or woman in uniform. As for employers, it seems that they find the degrees to help you get into those uniforms just as sexy.
And what might draw employers to a bachelor's degree in criminal justice? It could have something to do with the fact that criminal justice majors become acquainted with almost every aspect of the law and justice system.
Just take a look at what the College Board has to say: It notes that as a criminal justice major, you'll "study the law backward and forward, learn how the judicial system works, and learn the ins and outs of police departments and other law enforcement agencies."


What's the attraction? While a degree in criminal justice isn't always required to pursue a career in law enforcement, it doesn't hurt, either.
In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor says that state and local police agencies encourage applicants to continue their education after high school by taking courses or preparation related to law enforcement, which includes criminal justice programs.
It adds that, "many applicants for entry-level police jobs have taken some college classes, and a significant number are college graduates."

Hip Hop fans everywhere have never really gotten over the breakup of The Fugees. Even now after a decade and a half, a reunion of the Hip Hop super group would capture endless interest and anticipation. However, the relationship between Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill has always been love/hate even after attempts at a reunion. Hip Hop has always been caught in the middle like a child torn between divorced parents. In a VIBE article by Keenan Higgins, excerpts of Wyclef's autobiography were revealed which detailed a major rift between Wyclef and Lauryn Hill, their secret love affair. Wyclef who has been married for 18 years revealed this in Purpose: An Immigrant's Story, which arrives at bookstores tomorrow.

He says the beginning of the end of The Fugees began when Lauryn made him believe that her first born son was his, when it was actually Rohan Marley's (son of Bob Marley).

Clef writes, “In that moment something died between us. I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that.” He continues by adding, “She coul not longer be my muse. Our love spell was broken.”

I know a lot of rappers in the history of hip hop have retired only to resurface and continue their careers. Like Lupe, many of them begin retirement talks with an album ironically right around the corner for release. However, Lupe Fiasco is the only rapper I believe when he says he's retiring. His struggles within the industry are infamous (Atlantic Records you really do suck ass) and his love for politics and literature are genuine. His personality is eccentric enough to actually allow him to retire from rap AND STAY RETIRED. Still, his new album Food and Liquor 2 is weeks away from release so I still look at his retirement talk sideways. With Lupe, who knows???

As a fan, I remind Lupe of 4 points:
1) You can still make music for people to listen to and enjoy in retirement. You don't have to be paid to create beautiful art for the world to enjoy.

2) You still owe us LupEND....YOU PROMISED!!!!!

3) Your contractual obligations to Atlantic Records are almost completed. I don't know if you've heard but the indie label route is SWWWWWEEEEEEET. The money you make is yours. The art you create is yours. There is no pressure to make records you don't want to. Your boss is pretty much a die hard fan. #POW

4) Come On Son!!! Yesterday, Forbes just gave you a shout out on their Hip Hop Cash Kings list. You made $5 million son....let me be Lupe Fiasco then if you don't want to be.

Meet L Pro.  From Portland.

If that doesn't make you press play then how bout the they beat samples Dougie Fresh and its actually a pretty good single. Produced by Arkiteck and inspired by the concept of "standing out". I don't know if it really made him stand out but the fact this type of style came from Portland caught my attention.

Enough about Portland, lol, L Pro actually has some good music. He only submitted this track but I researched through the links his PR sent over. Again, this track was hot. Dont have a rating for it but its good enough that ima upload it to my laptop.

I look forward to more music from him and thank his team for the submission.

Meet Makeda aka TheRedFox.

None of the beats are originals but they are classics. One pet peeve of mine is an artist who takes a classic beat, remixes it and fuck it up. Makeda didn't. The beats made this mixtape good. Her style is unique and out of all the tracks she remade, track 6 was the only one I didn't like too much. Nobody should try to mess up the original "Computer Love". I even hated Lil Kim for doing it.

Why did she get reviewed? I liked her originality on these beats. Its not too easy to follow behind some of the notorious artist who originally did the production.

On a Sarcastic Mic Scale, I give it a 3.5. Wouldn't listen to it in the car or to party but it's soothing enough to relax late at night... maybe even to fuck to.

Meet Money Makin D.

Why he made the review? This dude had an official website including a FanBridge signup and his management/booking and press contact info. This guy also included all his links in the submission email which made it super easy to research him. Overall he is a pretty well put together artist.

Now, the mixtape on the other hand was decent. It wasn't all the way average but it did keep my attention and I enjoyed it more once it got to track 6. If I could produce or change anything, it would be the intro. If I weren't reviewing it for the website, I probably wouldn't have continued to listened due to the intro loosing me from the title concept. Maybe I should've listened to the whole thing... but I didn't. Didn't sound mastered. I definitely was happy that the second track gave a explanation.  Loved the beat. Matter fact, most of the production was awesome.

On a Sarcastic Mic rating, I give it a 3 out of 5. Average rating. It was enjoyable and definitely had some good party music on it.

I want to thank him for the submission and hope he takes my criticism with the up-most respect because I definitely want to hear more. If it sounds like this now, I can only imagine what it will in another year.
